Set It Up ICT Career Awareness Event

On the 27th of March, the Set It Up ICT Career Awareness Event for Youth with Disabilities took place at the South African National Botanical Gardens, Pretoria. This groundbreaking initiative, in collaboration with Shudu Connections, W&RSETA, Care Runners, and Yanda, aimed to bridge the digital divide and provide career opportunities for young individuals with disabilities. The event brought together a diverse group of speakers, exhibitors, and representatives from various organizations and schools, including TIA, CHIETA, and BLINDSA, all dedicated to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the ICT sector. Attendees had the opportunity to explore career paths, interact with industry leaders, and gain insights into the latest advancements in technology that support individuals with disabilities.

Allan Gray Makers Competition

On the 20th of July, the Yanda Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship was invited by Nkangala TVET College to support student entrepreneurs participating in the Allan Gray Makers Pitch Competition. Our role was to guide the students in identifying key problems within their respective business sectors, developing viable solutions, establishing market traction, formulating revenue models, and conducting competitive analysis. Drawing from extensive local and international pitching experience, our Centre Manager, Lucky Netshidzati, provided the student entrepreneurs with strategic insights and practical advice—highlighting the key elements funders typically look for when considering funding opportunities.

At Yanda, we are committed to supporting our SMEs in navigating the digital world. In an era of increasing reliance on digital innovations, robust security is essential. That's why we offer tailored Cybersecurity training to equip our SMEs with the knowledge they need to operate safely online, ensuring the highest level of protection in the digital space.

eMalahleni Women's Just Energy Transition Dialogues

On the 21st of August 2024, Nkangala TVET College hosted the eMalahleni Women’s Just Energy Transition Dialogues in partnership with the World Bank. We were honoured to attend and participate as guest speakers, where we were invited to inspire and encourage more women to transition into the tech and energy sectors. This engagement formed part of our Women’s Month initiatives, and we also used the opportunity to identify and recruit a young woman to become one of the beneficiaries of the Yanda Centre marking a meaningful close to Women’s Month.
